Come hungry! Food is our excuse to showcase the lesser known Italian immigrant history of the South Village. Before the boho-beatnik, boutique, and folk music scenes, Greenwich Village was an enclave for Italian-American immigrants. Many streets are still lined with the tenements and small businesses that catered to these newcomers.
We seek out classic Italian mom and pop shops where you can try a variety of Italian food. By the end of the tour, you will have eaten the equivalent of one entire meal. You’ll also have an opportunity to buy fresh pasta where the owners will hand-cut your strands to order. We end at a gelateria.
Tours last approximately 3 hours, Tuesday – Saturday, beginning at 5pm.
